Eleni Karaindrou's music for Theo Angelopoulos's new movie, Dust of Time starring Willem Dafoe, Irène Jacob and Michel Piccoli which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. Often Karaindrou's music plays a decisive role in shaping the emotional climate of the films she serves - Dust of Time is the eighth Angelopoulos film to feature her music. Yet the strength of Karaindrou's compositions is such that they stand beautifully by themselves, and each of her albums reveals an unmistakable autonomy. Dust of Time produced by Manfred Eicher in Athens, has a special, gentle and intimate character, with violin, harp, cello, oboe and accordion given central roles.
