The Evac+Chair 300H can be operated by one person to evacuate an individual down stairs, is made from aluminum alloy, and weighs 19 lb. It uses a system of belts mounted on two elongated tracks that allows the chair to balance and glide on the edge of the stairs while creating friction to slow momentum. This places most of the weight on the edge of the stairs, relieving the operator from bearing the entire weight of the individual. The belts slide over at least two stairs at a time, providing a smooth descent. Two 6" wheels allow pivoting and maneuvering on landings. An extension handle allows the operator to control the chair from behind and above the individual. The sling-style seat lowers the individual’s center of gravity and cradles the individual securely. One 2" safety belt tightens across the waist and chest, and one padded safety belt tightens across the forehead. The chair has a maximum capacity of 400 lb. and its aluminum alloy 6061 has been hardened to a T6 temper for strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance. The chair measures 41 x 20 x 8 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) A dust cover and J-bracket wall mount is included for storage. Photoluminescent indicator sign can be affixed to the wall near the mounted chair and reads: "Emergency Stairway Descent for the Mobility Impaired." When used according to manufacturer’s recommendations, this product is covered by a 15-year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials; components prone to wear, such as belts, are covered under a one-year warranty. The chair is intended for use on straight fire stairs with hard nosings and is not recommended for home use due to the great variances in space and stair configurations.

By far the best in price range! If your looking at cheaper evac chairs, spend the extra money and make this the minimum level "go to" chair. While Evac chairs can range all the way up to 3k for effortless descent, don't find yourself in an emergency situation with a sub-par, difficult to navigate chair. Always look at the rated weight limit, and test run your chair to make sure your ready to handle in the event of an emergency. Train multiple designated people from your Safety Committee and Security staff on how to properly use, and periodically inspect your chair for proper function / wear & tear, eliminating confusion and panic in an emergency situation. Easy to assemble, and even easier to use! The belts provide the perfect amount of resistance when going down our concrete stairs (in commercial building), helping with weight and control of passenger - giving you a stable and controlled descent. Straps secure the passenger in place and it has small wheels on the lower rear...
I live in a high rise on the 12th floor. I bought this so that I could evacuate my wheelchair bound mother in an emergency. It folds up nicely and hangs on the wall. I keep it in my fairly small bedroom closet. I can take my mom down multiple flights of stairs fairly effortlessly. You definitely Ned to practice with it and get familiar with how it works. That is easily done with the video. It gives me great piece of mind knowing I can evacuate my mother in case of a fire or electricity failure.
The evacuation chair is simple. It works every time. It is intuitive so anyone can use it, even without training or instruction. There are no complicated add-ons to break. No gimmicky features to snag or fail. It simply works, effectively, easily, and does what it was designed to do: save lives
