In Russian folklore Baba Yaga (pronounced Buh Bah Yug Gah) is perhaps one of the most popular and recognizable characters. She is an old lady that lives deep in a forest in a hut on chicken legs. In most Russian folk tales, Baba Yaga is portrayed as a real witchy witch. She supposedly fries and eats humans, especially small children, but usually her horrifying intentions do not realize because her victims manage to escape at the last minute. Russian kids learn about Baba Yaga at early age; so, it is a good idea for anyone who wants to know about Russian language and culture to get familiar with the old lady.
