I definately wouldn't call the fan original or genuine. I have four Mac minis (three 2011 and one 2012) and it is not the same P/N or Amps as the OEMs in the minis, nor is the fan build exactly the same. None the less, it is a good quality fan at a good price and very similar to the 2012 Mac mini fan in that it is the same manufacturer (AVC - just slightly different part number and Amps). I'd probably buy another one. Works well in my 2011 Minis including the 2.0GHz server (which is what I bought it for). But couldn't handle the heat of the 2.6GHz 2012 mini. The 2.6GHz hit peak CPU temps (104'C) before I shut the CPU test down. My 2012 OEM fan is ok, I just wanted to see if this fan was cooler (which it obviously wasn't). I am guessing that is because it is only 0.50A, while the 2012 fan is 0.60A. Before some of you say "it was not advertised for the 2012 mini", true but have a look around... the same fan is being sold with the same P/N for the 2012 model. In short it works...
This is only the second time I've ever had to replace a cooling fan on a Mac (been using Mac since the SE). In this case, I bought this as a replacement for a Mac mini Server (mid 2011) model. The original was fine until sometime last year when the cooling fan started acting up, then stopped altogether (never a good thing). I replaced it, and it's been fine until recently, when that one also started acting up and making noise. I suppose it's possibly due to an increase in use of the machine over the past few years, but I've seen (larger) cooling fans in other machines running 24x7 that have lasted longer. Perhaps with these (sub)compact cooling fans they should be cleaned out with a bit of compressed air on a regular basis; probably a good bit of preventive maintenance for any system anyway.
Perfect-fit replacement for OEM Mac mini fan (late 2012). Not sure of the RPM or volume or air flow is the quite the same, as my mini seems to run hotter in my subjective and scientifically unverifiable opinion (I didn't take any measurements before breaking the original fan's connector while performing the standard RAM/SSD upgrade). This fan shipped quickly, fit perfectly, and works well.
