Covers both inorganic and organic chemistry topics
Doesn't hurt your hands to break down molecules
There are tons of intro molecular model sets to choose from. Your textbook company likely has one that they recommend you purchase that (surprise, surprise) costs a fortune. This model set covers most basic inorganic and organic chemistry topics and is extremely affordable. It is the same configuration and quality as the other brand name sets available. The set comes with a plastic case and instructions.
The kit contains:

My friend got the Molymod 50 set on Amazon from 3B Scientific and I personally like theirs a lot better (although I will never admit it to them). For the price this one pretty good. I do have a couple complaints about this particular model set. First, there are too few Carbons. However, it is both an Inorganic/Organic set, so I guess that is to be expected. I sometimes have to use the 4-bond blue Nitrogens they provide as substitutes. Second, the box they all come in has a lid that after a few openings never quite holds shut. I have fixed this with a rubber band after experiencing a whole lot of bond links and molecules at the bottom of my bag. Third, the molecules do not seem to preform well when doing any sort of rotation (especially cyclohexanes when doing the chair structure). All in all, I payed less for this kit than others as I don't expect to employ it past my two quarters in college. If you do plan to do the chemistry thing further (you're crazy by the way), you might want to...
I bought this set for Organic Chemistry Modeling. It was a great help in naming structures for R/S. It also was significantly cheaper than buying the $55 set at the college bookstore! The set is large enough to do several models to compare structures.
The molecular model set is exactly what I needed! The carrying case is very convenient, and the pieces to the set are neither too big nor too small. With help from this kit, I was able to bring my test score up 15 points!
