Elizabeth Bathory was a sadistic monster of a woman who was responsible for the torture and deaths of six hundred and fifty adolescent girls in Transylvania, Hungary during the sixteenth century. She was a very intelligent child who taught herself to read, write and speak Hungarian, German, Greek and Latin but she suffered from seizures accompanied by fits of extreme rage.
The Bathory family was a powerful, aristocratic family and when she was eleven years old, her parents arranged her engagement to a sadistic war hero from another influential aristocratic family. The arranged marriage was celebrated, joining two powerful families that had madness and cruelty running in both.
Together with her husband and several other cohorts in crime, Countess Elizabeth Bathory became the most prolific serial killer in history.
