I can't say enough about this projector. We have an outstanding 42 inch LCD tv connected to a great surround sound system, and we have this projector with its built-in speakers. Given the choice between the home theater and the projector, the kids always choose to watch movies on the projector. The picture quality is not HD, but it is better than standard definition. The sound is loud enough indoors that you'll want to turn it down if someone is sleeping in another room. It is so bright we can even watch it in the middle of the afternoon on a sunny day, with only thin white curtains blocking the sun from streaming in. It is a truly impressive projector. And the only set up is plugging it in! Amazing. That ease makes it very portable, also, which is great because the thinly-padded carry bag is great, too. Back to the great picture. When researching screens, I found that one of my living room walls has a lot of the color qualities and slightly glossy reflectivity qualities that...
Bought this to function as a home and business projector. We've only used it at home. It's pretty much fool proof...just plug and play. We have a concrete wall with a ton of texture. The paint color is probably eggshell. It's was really clear. I didn't even notice the cinder block lines while viewing the movie. Apparently it's made to go on any surface. I did purchase 3 yards of black out fabric (white drapery lining) for $5/yd online. If you google/youtube how to make your own screen, that's what they use. It's 60" wide. Anyway, I haven't used that yet, but I suspect it will be really good since this projector did great on our textured wall. It doesn't get hot and you don't have to (at least I didn't see that anywhere in the instructions) wait for it to cool down before turning it off. The case is not great...it's just a neoprene or something similar that you have to slide in sideways vs. just dropping it in from the top, but as long as you have a safe place to store it,...
I bought a new 50 inch plasma a few months ago. Then I bought the moviemate about one month ago and I haven't touched my plasma. In fact, I'm going to sell it. I love the moviemate. It's addictive. I created a homemade movie screen out of a full size white sheet and a couple of 8 foot sticks from Home Depot and boom, instant movie theater in the home. The image is freaking huge. The speakers are very impressive for being built in. It runs quiet and looks sleek. I'm an indie filmmaker and I bought this mostly so that I could take it places and show my work. But now I'm also using it for movies. It makes watching TV and event, needless to say what it does for watching films. I highly recommend it. My poor plasma is just sitting there. Anyone want to buy it?
UPDATE- DEC-6-2012 So I've had mine for two years not with daily use and no problems. I love this thing. Can't imagine ever going back to a TV no mater the screen size. A regular TV will never get this big. I sold my...
