Essaying The Apocalypse: A Spiritual Reading Of The Apocalypse Of St John, Also Called The Book Of Revelation

The REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST - by its own account sealed with seven seals - has posed an age-old mystery. Yet in that same text we read, behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah ... has prevailed to open the book and loose its seven seals. Christ is seen therein descending from heaven with a little book open, whereupon seven thunders are heard to utter their voices - voices not recorded in scripture - yet with the assurance that ... in the days of the voice of the seventh angel the mystery of God should be accomplished. 

In ESSAYING THE APOCALYPSE we embark on a visionary journey through the ages of Christendom, and into the very heart of heaven, where we come face to face with the transcendent ark, with its cherubic guardians, and ONE upon the throne. From this exalted vantage we watch the Revelation unfold, as God's great Covenant Angel makes known its secrets.  

In the language of biblical symbolism, we move beyond the spiritual veil - beyond the outer courts of historic Christendom - into the inner sanctum of the soul, where Christ is revealed in his temple. Spiritual categories - the symbols, types and archetypes - are elucidated in the language of prophecy, the natural language of embodied experience. The spiritual veil of the ages is lifted and Christ stands revealed before our eyes.
