2037 D-Region Tomahawk Model Rocket Kit, Intermediate Replica Flying-Rocket-Model Kit for Ages 10+
Description
- INTERMEDIATE MODEL-ROCKET-BUILDING KIT: The D-Region Tomahawk rocket-building kit offers kids ages 10+ and enthusiasts a hands-on experience in creating a 1/5-scale replica of NASA's 1968 one-time sounding rocket. It includes a durable body tube, a molded nose cone, laser-cut balsa fins, decals, and a 24-inch recovery parachute. It requires Estes rocket engines, Starters, Recovery Wadding, a launch pad system, and 4 high-quality 1.5-volt AA alkaline batteries for launch use (sold separately).
- SOARS UP TO 750 FT.: Standing at 38.8", our D-Region Tomahawk rocket model replicates the legendary NASA and military-test vehicle with authentic scale detailing and aerodynamic fins. It has an orange engine spacer that allows flexible motor selection and a projected altitude of 750 ft. (229 m) using an E Estes rocket engine (sold separately). This flying model rocket is compatible with D12-3 and E12-4 rocket engines.
- READY TO ASSEMBLE: Rocket building inspires creativity and a passion for science and outer space! Our intermediate-level rocket kit comes ready to build in approximately 1 hour and includes detailed scale parts, water-slide decals, a realistic paint guide, and dual-launch lugs that accommodate 3/16-inch Maxi Rods. Pair it with the Estes Porta-Pad E Launch Pad, a 3/16-inch "Maxi" Launch Rod, and E Launch Controller (sold separately) for a successful blastoff.
- SAFETY FIRST, FUN ALWAYS: Our rockets and rocket launch accessories are designed to be used with the NAR (National Association of Rocketry) model-rocket safety code. Always ensure you have an appropriate launch site, stand back at least 15 ft., insert the safety key, issue a countdown, and then you can let your rocket fly!
- WE IGNITE IMAGINATIONS: Since 1958, Estes has created educational rocket kits designed for an unforgettable launch experience. As a family-owned company, we have grown to offer exciting STEM products that engage aspiring rocketeers and the future minds of aerospace.

Blast Off to Learning Fun
In addition to the excitement and entertainment it provides, rocketry also has significant educational value. Model rockets transform kids into amateur rocket scientists, encouraging them to think about how the rockets work. Rocket building teaches kids the basics of propulsion, flight, and aerodynamics, and can help foster an early interest in science and engineering. As a Skill Level 2 the D-Region Tomahawk is the first tier of more advanced kits that require beginner skills in model rocket construction, finishing and painting. It features molded plastic fins and nose cone as well as waterslide decals.
Mission Control
The D-Region Tomahawk requires a Porta-Pad E and E Launch Controller as well as Estes engines for the launch (not included). Estes D12-5 or E9-6 engines are recommended for all missions. Unless otherwise specified, all models require assembly. Tools, construction and finishing supplies sold separately. In order to launch, a launch system, model rocket engines, igniters, recovery wadding and four 'AA' alkaline batteries are required – sold separately unless otherwise specified. Read all instructions before beginning. Make sure you have all parts and supplies required. Test fit all parts before applying glue. Sand as necessary for precision assembly. Product color and shape may vary. When launching, stand back as far as the launch controller cord will allow (30 feet). Rocketry is not intended for indoor use. Choose a large field (500 feet), free of dry weeds and brown grass. Launch only with little or no wind and good visibility.
