Being jammed in confined spaces for hours is an unfortunate part of the business for many professionals we serve. Whether it’s a military unit in an a.p.c., a pilot in a cockpit, drivers in a HumVee, or a journalist in the back of a goat truck, they all have to bring their gear. And they all may need to ‘relocate’ in a hurry. This is the environment for which our Evac(TM) line of sling packs has been geared. They are slim shaped to be easily maneuvered in crowds, or stored in vehicles/lockers, and are quick to take on or off. They are also ambidextrous, and unlike others in this class, are actually comfortable on the shoulder; The bottom strap clips from either the right or left lower corner and the padded section realigns itself ergonomically in the correct body-hugging direction. The bag can be rotated to the chest for on-the-go access, and all pockets are designed to face the user in this mode on either the right or left side. One-strap-carry also makes shouldering a long-gun comfortable - unlike a backpack.

I bought this sling style bag after looking at several others made by their competitors. The reason I bought this particular bag and not one of their others is due to e side pockets - I can fit all kinds of gear in them, as well as a 32 oz. Nalgene with a steel cup on the bottom of it.
The inside of the bag is just like the others by Hazard 4. Rather than bore you with opinions on the bag, here is what I was able to fit so that you can get a better idea of size. I can fit a 11" screened laptop, or an iPad with several quite thick books/textbooks. Behind the storage area is a mesh pocket, approximate 6" x 3" which can hold pens or pencils easily while also being able to stow some small eats. The bag comes with a padded divider; I placed it at the top of bag so that I can keep my digital SLR camera with me while also packing my gear and EDC items. The pockets on the front of are plenty deep and big to carry lights, ammo mags, flagging tape, etc. The bladder sleeve on...
This bag is great for short O2 bottles. We are a rural fire rescue company in the mountains of western Montana. This bag is superbly built and makes for a great Mini Jump Kit. The fire service is rough on stuff. Hazard 4 stuff is hard to beat for hard use. The current standard is cheaply built bags that are usually red or blue, thin material, having cheap bead seams with a medic or Maltese cross. The big fire supply catalogs sell junk in this category. I am sure this will get under their skin maybe they would like to challenge me. BTW I have been Chief for 5 years and have no affiliation with any manufacturer. I just like well made stuff. I know budgets are always driving our decisions. In the long run junk costs more than the good stuff. I don't like to buy stuff twice.
I did a lot of searching to see what would make a good pack for some light hiking, maybe some day trips at the North Carolina Zoo. It had to be something light, small, but flexible that I can bring it as carry-on baggage when I fly without raising eyebrows.
I had initially wanted the Plan-B, but it was too small for what I wanted to carry, so I chose the Rocket. I could not be happier with my purchase. The main compartment is just short of 20" long by almost 8" wide. It holds my Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition, but not inside the webbed pocket as I hoped it would. Not a deal-breaker, fortunately the pack is just wide enough--barely--to hold my tablet. For me this was the most critical part of a good bag, and the Rocket succeeded there.
As other people have noted, the strap is very comfortable. Hands down the most pleasant experience on my shoulder that I have ever had. When I loaded the Rocket with my total gear (plus a mostly full camelback), it...
