Favorite Song of All

Culled from three live Sunday services at the famous Brooklyn Tabernacle, the Grammy-nominated Favorite Song of All features some of the choir's most cherished and oft-sung hymns. As with others in their series of live recordings, Favorite Song includes applause, individual testimony, and rousing congregational participation, as in "God Is Moving by His Spirit." Buoyed by remarkably strong and regularly featured soloists (Robin Giles, Charles Allen, Cynthia Greene), the choir marries elements of traditional black gospel with contemporary Christian choral arrangements, typified by the elegant vocal and instrumental build of "Use Me." "He'll Welcome Me" and "Heaven Medley," both featuring the belt of gospel diva Pamela Pettway, and the rhythmic pop-spiritual "Field of Souls" are standouts, as is the stunning a cappella rendition of the Hebrew "Hevenu Shalom Alechem." --Paige La Grone
