Colorful in both visible and under ultraviolet light, fluorite is used for ornamental and lapidary uses. It is considered to be allochromatic, as elemental impurities can tint the color of the fluorite. Combined with it being found in an extremely wide range of colors, and it has the distinction of being known as the most colorful mineral in the world.
