Additional Information

Lys is an attorney with a secret that might just be the death of her. She's always had psychic powers, but she's done her best to deny them. Her ex-boyfriend is a mage dedicated to killing demons, and he's not happy she's left him. When she asks tough guy Telos Khunbish to help her move her things, she finds out her ex wants more than revenge and that Telos is one of the demons her ex is pledged to destroy.

Lys blinked once when Telos Khunbish’s black BMW pulled up to the curb. She wasn’t going to cry. She never did. Not for any reason. Emotion meant you were weak, and if you were weak, people found ways to make you pay. She was done paying. But it was such a relief to see Khunbish that, for a moment, she teetered on the edge of tears.
While she waited to make sure it was really Khunbish in the car, a man in a suit strode past her, heading for the glass doors that faced Front Street. He was thirty-ish, good looking and in shape. Company ID dangled from a lanyard clipped to his belt. He kept walking and came within ten feet of her. Too close. He was too close. Panic rose up again. She needed to get away. Away from all these people and their lives.
He looks left as he steps off the curb, smiling, on his way to meet the woman he loves. A traffic light reflects green in the lenses of his glasses. He doesn’t see the car that runs the light.
Pain streaked along the left side of her face from just behind her eye through to back of her head as she fought to keep her insanity at bay. Blocking her connection shouldn’t be this hard, but the last several days had been. . . difficult. Not enough sleep. Not enough to eat. Too much caffeine. Far too much stress. Lys was at the limit of her ability to compensate. She succeeded in smothering the contact. Barely. The barrier was thin enough that the other lives thrummed in the back of her head like another heartbeat, but out of rhythm and out of control

by the time you get to the end which was about 15 minutes your wondering that's it.I know it's a short story but they should really call it an essay. It's about 1322 on kindle but the story ends 722 after that it's about two other of her stories and i'm sure if you read them that would be pretty much what you would get if you bought them.I felt the story was just getting started when it just not worth even 99cents i feel like asking for my money back.If i could i wouldn't give it any stars.
After a nasty breakup with her boyfriend, high powered lawyer Lys picks the scariest guy she knows to help her retrieve her stuff. Security expert Kubush Telos, lives on the gray side of the law and is not much into good deeds but seeing the fractures in the icy lawyer's self control he decides to help, only to discover that the he's unknowingly walked into the middle of something truly dangerous. As Kubush quickly discovers, Lys is an uncontrolled witch who sees the future and her psycho ex not only wants to kill her but he is also a mage who want to turn Kubush into a mindless slave - because Kubush is not a vanilla human, he's a demon and an enemy to magekind.

This was a short little stand alone short set in the world of Jewel's My Immortal demon/mage series. Lys's power is an interesting one and Kubush is rough and dangerous. Future Tense was a nice little taste for those who follow the series, but in the short space only offers the promise of a future romance... Read more
I am addicted to this author's My Immortals series; they are fast-paced and exciting, with a terrific balance between action and romance. She has created a complex and interesting world for these books. I especially like the way her alpha male characters learn to love and to care, while the women learn how strong they can be, and both learn that being part of a couple can increase your strength rather than diminishing it. Although Future Tense is short, it has the elements of her longer books. If you're interested in trying this series for the first time, I recommend this story. And if you already like these sexy demons and mages, Future Tense will help tide you over until the release of My Dangerous Pleasure in June.
