G&K Craft Retayne Color Fixative Original Version 4oz | Best Liquid Color Fixative for Dyed Cotton, Linen and Rayon Fabrics
- PREVENT COLOR BLEEDING - Retayne is a color fixative. It should be used in pre-washing your commercially dyed cotton fabrics before you use them in a project, not after you have completed your quilt project. By locking the dye into the fabric, Retayne prevents future bleeding. Since it fixes colors, Retayne helps fabrics to retain their vibrancy. Note: only one application of Retayne is necessary.
- HAND WASH DIRECTIONS - Add 140 ̊F water to a pot or tub, enough to fully cover the fabric you’re treating. Then add one teaspoon of Retayne for each yard of fabric. Add the dry fabric you wish to treat and soak for 20 minutes, stirring regularly. Remove the fabric, rinse it in cold water, and dry immediately. Test fabric before washing it for the first time. Future washes must be in cool water or the treatment will need to be repeated.
- WASHING MACHINE DIRECTIONS - Follow the same steps above, setting the water level appropriately in your machine and using a 20-minute wash. Note: Retayne does not work in energy-efficient top and front loader washing machines. Future washes must be in cool water or the treatment will need to be repeated.
- 4 OZ BOTTLE - This bottle contains 4 ounces of Retayne dye fixer. Retayne can also be purchased in 16 oz bottles.
