As soon as I saw this book on the GBS/CIPD newsletter, I knew I had to order it!! It is the true story of a survivor who went through a life changing ordeal, and could have easily lost her battle to a rare disease that is still often misdiagnosed and still does not have a cure - but progress is being made! I believe that I had Guillain-Barre Syndrom when I was 2 1/2 years old (I am 60 years old now). I have been told that I went from a running toddler to a very sick child who couldn't stand, sit-up or open my eyes! Truthfully, all I remember was a spinal tap - I was told that I was hospitalized for many weeks, in a pink crib, my mother had to hold me to feed me, and thankfully, I never lost the ability to breathe. I highly recommend this book--and not just for those looking to learn more about Guillain-Barre' Syndrome (GBS). Wenesday's faith, courage, and optimism will inspire and brighten anyone's day. Her experience and struggle with this rare autoimmune disease is well documented in her book which provides both education and resources for those dealing with GBS.
Great read! Wenesday keeps an extremely positive mindset throughout even her most difficult times struggling with the sudden onset of GBS. For anyone fighting this mystery syndrome or for those wanting a better understanding, this is definitely worth reading. She really points out what's worth cherishing in life.
