Awesome. Worth the effort to play simultaneously.
I really have enjoyed all of the Boris / Merzbow collaborations that I have listened to - Rock Dream, Megatone and Sun Baked Snow Cave. They are great musicians and work together well. On this collaboration, the idea is that each disc stands on its own, but that one should play the two together on two separate players and mess with volumes till it suits the listener for maximum impact. I do have to agree that each disc does stand on its own. The only minor quibble for the Boris side is that there is no new material here, but the reworked material does sound good. The running order is reminiscent of the set that the two groups did at the Boiler Room a while back, but the recording sounds a million, billion times better. The new version of "Vomitself" is much shorter, nearly half as long as the original version, and I must say I miss the fading-out effect that I heard then. "Akirame Flower" is a mysterious selection, from the album Golden Dance Classics, a split with 9dw

While the two bands keep their music separate for the most... Read more
