From New York Times best selling author and Army Special Operations veteran Jack Murphy comes the next installment in the Deckard mercenary fiction series.
The high Arctic is a region untouched by war.
A mysterious weapon is stolen from a Russian facility by an equally elusive foe. With America under attack, the only chance to recover the weapon falls to Deckard and Samruk International in what quickly becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse in the Arctic Circle.
Their enemy is technically savvy, sophisticated, and cunning, staying a step ahead of Samruk at every turn as they race across the tundras of Russia, Alaska, Canada, and beyond.
With the numbers ticking down, Deckard makes a desperate final push across the frozen waste while the enemy triggers their final attack: a blow that could knock Western civilization back a hundred years and give birth to a new empire.

If Jack Murphy were strictly interested in making money with his novels, he has the real-world experience and writing talent to bang out a dozen decent military thrillers a year. Instead—and much to his readers' benefit—he carefully researches, plots, and crafts each novel until he's certain he's made something so powerful, unique, and memorable, those who read it will be utterly blown away.
"Gray Matter Splatter" is without question some of his finest work to date.
Here, Murphy pulls out all the stops. Deckard finds himself plunged into a new, hostile environment—the Arctic—battling a new, hostile enemy: a coalition of America's most powerful enemies. Toss in gadgets galore, some cyber warfare, a few genetically enhanced super soldiers, and a healthy dose of unapologetic bloodshed, and you've got a formula for wild entertainment that...
Jack Murphy continues to disrupt the over-crowded thriller genre with his Deckard series, bringing his trademark realism, deep research into the material, and forward thinking about what the future of war will look like.
A few things make Murphy's books stand out from the pack. The first of these is the faithful rendering of the language and tone that elite warriors use when speaking about their trade. There is no easy way to describe this, but people who have spent a career perfecting their ability to precisely apply violence have their own version of English. Murphy nails that on the head. He shares this trait with writers like Peter Nealen, Brad Taylor, and Dalton Fury, and its a strength that sets their work far above your Vince Flynns, Brad Thors, and the myriad other thriller writers who drop 500 twist-filled pages every other year. That may sound trivial, but it adds more realistic texture to the characters than any other literary device could.
Alright, waited in quasi-fanboy anticipation for the fourth Deckard Novel and was not disappointed. Partially just to get a print of Marc Lee's artwork! Jack Murphy, due to his background and research, is gifted at illustrating individual and unit combat action, tactics, and the coordination in planning and use of gear, technology, resources and assets. As another reviewer noted, the communication and language is unique, and demonstrates the mindset and culture of a military/combat unit and environment. Murphy's integration of specific, real-world gear, weapons, vehicles, and tech help bring to life the entire Deckard Series. However, Gray Matter Splatter bucks conventional weapons like a wild bronc! Old-school, traditional, mainstay weapons are all over the book, but the men of Samruk get outclassed by the enemy on multiple levels. Say hello to advanced non-lethal weaponry, robotic armed vehicles, and fascinating transportation for heroes and villains alike. I won't...
