In a real world combat environment, taking a city from an organized and competent military force, such as in WWII, 30-40% casualties were expected, assuming also that the odds are in your favor as an assaulting force of at least a 3 to 1 ratio with air and artillery support. Basically, it takes 3 men to take out 1 man defending an urban area and 2 will walk out battered but hopefully relatively unscathed.
