- In Exodus 30:23-33 God instructs Moses to make a sacred anointing oil, blending 4 precious aromatic ingredients in olive oil. Myrrh is a fragrant resin of sweet scent but bitter taste used for embalming and incense: one of the Wise Men kingly gifts to Jesus, symbol of His sacrifice for our salvation. Cinnamon & Cassia are inner barks rolled in sticks or grounded, used as perfumes and spices for noble food. Sweet cane or calamus' deliciously fragrant root was used as spice, incense and medicine
