These cloths are made from quality new material & burn very hot. Heat is the most important factor in primitive fire starting. Each piece is at least one square inch in size, most being larger than that. No two pieces are the same size or shape, as I make them by hand. There are 20 pieces per pack. There are enough pieces to start at least 40 fires and in fact probably more if you use it sparingly. I ship them in a small, water tight zipper lock baggy. EDIT: I've come to find that even though I ship them in a zipper lock baggy, it is a good idea to split them up and put them in packs of two or three pieces so that you can stash them in many different locations.
