Additional Information

This booklet is all about my experiences on the long journey of publishing my picture book series and becoming a best-selling author on Amazon. It is not about how to write your story but how to get it ready and publish it.

Here is a review ByWhistlers MomTOP 500 REVIEWERon March 20, 2016
I got hooked on the Oliver & Jumpy series, which are some of the most creative and entertaining children's books I've ever read. I love the glorious illustrations and I admire the author's exuberant, daring style. These are NOT your typical, tame kiddie lit books.

So I was interested to read the author's account of how he launched his successful series. I think the key is that he approached the task with creative energy, but also with the knowledge and savvy of a businessman. He realized upfront what many authors learn slowly and painfully - a writer must be a marketer also. I don't think this is a new idea. I've read that Shakespeare's success was built on his skill and hard work in developing a market for his plays and finding backing for them. Art does not exist in a vacuum and never has.

This little book gives you a lot of bang for the buck because it's based on experience, not theory. If you're a writer (or want to be) you should read (and re-read) his suggestions and advice. Knowing the score before you publish could save you a lot of heart-ache and money. And if you're interested in the fascinating new world of e-publishing, this is a great inside look into how it works. I read it twice and enjoyed every word.

This author brings the inspiration in and around us into a matter-of-fact path for writing, publishing, and promoting a children's picture book. Speaking from his own experience made it easy for me to relate to his journey. He presents many helpful things to consider: matching pictures to words on one page, quality reasonably priced illustrators, videos, technical needs, keyword searches, steady sales, and more. A short book packed with doable solutions. I highly recommend this book for writers of picture books who are looking to publish. This book ‘is not about how to write your story but how to get it ready and publish it.’

Australian author Werner Stejskal was born in Vienna, Austria but now lives in the paradise of Perth, Australia. He worked for many years in the printing industry and later for the United Nations in Vienna. Now retired he devotes his time to writing children's stories, having them illustrated through Odesk and published as eBooks on most platforms. Eventually there will be 17 books with three stories each in English, before being translated into several other languages. And everybody knows that side of Werner so in this book he addresses situations and confrontations he has encountered in becoming a best selling author of children’s books – a dependence on advertising by gaining reviews for his product.

Werner’s ideas are solid and he offers them freely and in a most accessible manner. He starts with a bit of interesting history of his topic:... Read more
