In the past, restoration guides have provided authenticity information, such as accurate paint codes, badges, wheels, and other equipment. A bona fide hands-on how-to book for restoring your Mustang from the ground up has not been offered for years. This unique guide will cover the restoration process for every major component group and also provide detailed step-by-step restoration information for the most important procedures. With clear, insightful color photography to accompany this how-to information, any at-home restorer can confidently restore a car and save a substantial amount of money in the process. While restomod books have shown how to install latest technology on vintage muscle cars, this book will focus on factory-accurate restorations, and some simple bolt-on upgrades that do not detract from the collector value but rather enhance the reliability and performance of the car. How to Restore Your Mustang 1964-1/2-1973 delivers a detailed explanation for finding the right model, how to assess condition, how to spot a fake, and how to select the right car within your budget.

Well I went nuts and bought tons of Mustang books for my 66, most are pretty poor really. This one is great, still wastes some chapters on which Mustang to buy and body work (this has been thrashed to death in many many books) but there rest is good. Sadly there is no one complete Mustang book, but with this book and Tom Corcoran and Earl Davis's "Mustang 1964 1/2 -1973 Restoration Guide" - good for parts details and exploded views, no instructions. Anyway with these two you have 90% of your needs covered. You'd think by now there would be a comprehensive repair and restoration guide, but there isn't but this is the closest yet and the pictures are good.
I should have listened to the other reviews regarding the amount of information in this guide. This is more of a how-to get motivated to choose your car. The book serves as a general manual for restoring any car and not a mustang. It lacked the diagrams and cataloguing that is needed to restore a mustang.
The book had very good pictures and I like that they kept to one year model, instead on bouncing around. However, if you take out the engine, transmission and rear end how to's which most people would get professionally done, the book is really pretty light. There is no detail in disassembly and re-assembly. It's basically remove everything restore it or replace it and put it back together. I was looking for lots more detail for glass channels, window operation, dash assembly, wiring, safety modifications etc..
