INDIA TREE Chinese Five Spice is a traditional blend of five spices--star anise, cloves, fennel, cinnamon, and Szechuan pepper--used throughout China and Vietnam to season pork, vegetable, and poultry dishes. The combination of fennel seeds and star anise gives the blend its predominately anise flavor, which goes well with fatty foods, e. g. , pork, duck or game. To create this intensely flavorful blend, we begin with whole spices and grind them in small batches. Use INDIA TREE Chinese Five Spice sparingly. It is very strong.
