I really enjoy this album every time I have a listen. It's a bit "moodier" than others -- I'd say it reminds me of another favorite so many disagree was "hot:" "Circus." Loved that album to no end. This is not as strong, track-by-track, but definitely rocks and lyrics get inside your head. Favorite track, btw: "This Moment is All There Is." Gotta love Lenny for stepping out and exploring new sounds.
America's premiere rocker reclaims his throne! Funny thing is, in the past few years, nobody was talented enough to fill his shoes. Maybe, just maybe, Rob Thomas[& Co.]gave Lenny a dual run on radio/charts - both possess two of the most alluring male voices[and talents] in Pop'N Rock music, with natural soulfullness included by each artists' nature. But, Thomas borders too much on pop candy fluff, whereas Lenny is a serious rocker. Serious, yet his music is fun and liberating all at once...on occasion, Kravitz offers his audience, that vision of impacting freedom and imaginative release. There were also a few other pop-rockers with a hit or two, but not consistent enough to maintain momentum, eventually fading fast from view. It's LENNY KRAVITZ that remains the king! No other musician has captured our imagination like LENNY KRAVITZ has in the past couple decades. "IT IS TIME FOR A LOVE REVOLUTION" is the album we have all waited for LENNY KRAVITZ to release! Critics have basically dismissed Kravitz over the years as a recycler of late 60's and early 70's rock and roll. It's true that Kravitz's music has elements of Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Sly And The Family Stone, but he also has some Prince, Little Richard, Living Colour and even Terence Trent D'Arby as well as some Black Crowes. I've like Kravitz from the beginning, and though he is not my favorite artist, I have all eight of his albums, each of which have their own merits.
That said, "It Is Time For A Love Revolution" is pretty good. I normally have complaints about 14 songs being too long, and this is no exception. I mean, Kravitz could have left off "This Moment Is All There Is" and "A New Door" and been just fine. "I Love The Rain" is a third choice for exclusion.
The album starts strong with "Love Revolution" akin to "Are You Gonna Go My Way". This is followed by a relatively strong "Bring It On" and "Good Morning". Kravitz is back again on "Love...
