Jagdwaffe Volume 4, Section 1: Holding the West 1941-1943 (Luftwaffe Colours)

Following the Battle of Britain, RAF Fighter Command went over to the offensive, carrying the flight for air superiority to the enemy-held coast of Europe. At the same time, the bulk of the Luftwaffe fighter force had been transferred to Russia or the Middle East, leaving only two German units for defense of France and the occupied countries. Despite the RAF's numerical advantage, not only was it unable to achieve its aims but also suffered heavy losses. This is the sometimes astonishing story of the German fighter force, now holding all the advantages of fighting over its own territory, in its defensive and offensive operations against growing Allied might from June 1941 to August 1943.
