I've been sewing for 33 years and this is my first electronic sewing machine. I love it. Its easy to thread, change bobbins, the auto-matic needle threader (great for my 46 year-old eyes). It can sew basic letters and numbers, which look pretty good. The stretch stitch sews knits easily no problems and no ripples...I plan to use this a lot when I don't feel changing the color of my threads on my Juki MO644D serger. The needle up/down feature is great, speed control great...its very quiet too! Solidly built and EASY to operate. Great manual, lots of feet/accessories and even an instructional DVD. Overall this is a fantastic sewing machine....I LOVE JUKI!!!
Like Sharon (the other review) this is my first electronic machine and I have been sewing since age six. I had a collection of older mechanical machines and this JUKI is replacing them all. It does all the tricks most people use. The letters are just something cool. It also comes with a dvd that helps with learning it along with a good manual. Quiet and at a economical price -- I cruised the Vikings and JoAnn's one day and they were just out of range. Singer doesn't compete any longer. I have used JUKI industrial machines and wasn't aware they were making machines for home sewers. Well they do and this one is great! The auto threading is great -- no longer need two pairs of glasses ;-)
Customer Video Review Length:: 5:01 Mins
This video compares 4 sewing machines, side by side in the $250-$500 price bracket. Although the Singer 9970 won overall, I kept this machine as the perfect travel companion. On the down side, because it is a 3/4 size machine according to Juki, it did not perform well on the piercing test (as shown in the video) but did beautiful decorative stitches and a perfect 3/16" seam. The expansive table (separate purchase) gave me plenty of room to work, while the machine is light and easy to carry. I loved the lighting and the easy stitch selection too. It proved to be a keeper!
There were actually 8 machines altogether in the testing but I split them into two groups, 'Under $250' and '$250-$500'. If you want to see the 'Under $250' it posted under the winner, Brother Laura Ashley CX155 LA.
