Efficient heat transmission
This J-Head Hot End is assembled and designed based on other nozzle. It's very simple by reducing the number of custom machined parts to a bare minimum. The J-Head Hot End can easily and well interface with the most popular RepRap extruders.
The filament path is same with the one of an already proven design, it can be used to print reliably with both ABS and PLA. If using PLA, it requires a small fan to provide air-flow through the cooling vents milled in the sides of the nozzle holder. Besides, the Hot End has another two advantages. Heat transmission is more efficiency as there is no thermal junction where a separate heater screws onto the nozzle. And a resistor is used as a heater. There is no need to wrap nichrome wire or to bake a heater core.

This hot-end replaced the Geeetech I actually bought a bit later. The hot-end works well but has a few short comings. I have a Printrbot simple metal that has had the usual problems with filament jamming in the hot-end. This part wasn't a good replacement for that specific application, it is simply too short. I made an adapter and got it working and it works well. The fact that the tip is aluminum is also undesirable with a Printrbot because the Printrbot has a Z stop switch (non-contact) that hs poor repeatability and it tends to ram the tip into the bed with some regularity. This, however, isn't really the fault of the Kamo hot-end. The only other complaint is how the thermistor is attached. It's just too easy to short it out against the aluminum tip. All that said, the Kamo hot-end performs very well and would be a great part for a different printer.
I was a bit concerned that the barrel was plastic and tip non-replaceable. But, once I got it, I took it apart. The inside has PTFE tube lining the barrel. Nice. The thermistor is just hanging out in an oversized hole, and I remedied with a tiny piece of wire in the hole with it. The heat cartridge is set screwed in place. I printed a hot end fan shroud, and I have had zero issues with the hot head in about 1 role of PLA printed. The inner tube means the filament is supported all the way from extruder to tip. My other brand hot end was constantly jamming with age (it did not have lining tube). This hot end was the right price, and it came with prime shipping. I was back up and printing in no time at all.
