Kato HO Scale Pullman Bi-Level Coach Car Chicago Metra 7848 (New Road Number) New Body Style... Prototype Information: The Bi-Level "Gallery" commuter car continues to be a favorite design of many commuter rail agencies throughout the United States and Canada. The design made its debut on the Chicago & North Western railroad for their Chicago area commuter service in the 1950s. The Chicago Metra Pullman Bi-Level car is fully featured with prototype smooth rolling trucks, full interiors and the distinctive green tinted windows of the Chicago commuter service. The body of the car itself is adorned in a two-tone silver painted layout that emulates the real car's mix of bare stainless steel (such as on the doors or the metal "METRA" ownership plate) and silver paint; unlike later cars such as the Nippon Sharyo bi-levels, the Pullman cars did not have stainless steel bodies and thus were painted to try and mimic the appearance of stainless cars. The HO Chicago Metra Bi-Level release from Kato USA comes in both Coach anc Cab-coach varieties; Each commuter train would have at least one cab-coach on its tail end for engineers to operate the train due to the unique "push-pull" operation in which these cars run where they are not turned around when they reach their destination. Model Features: Perfectly suited to be pulled by Kato's EMD F40PH Locomotives. Kinematic Knuckle Couplers and Shock Absorber construction for realistic movement.
