S. passport with green covers signed twice by Maynard with his birth name "Kenneth Olin Maynard" and stage name "Ken Maynard" Passport twice signed "Kenneth Olin Maynard (Ken Maynard)" and "Kenneth O. Maynard known as/'Ken' Maynard". 50 pages (including flyleaves), 3¾x6. United States of America passport no. 7932, June 30, 1948. With a passport photo on page 4 of Maynard. According to this passport, Maynard was 6 feet tall with black hair, grey eyes and was born on July 21, 1895 in Vevay, Indiana. His occupation is listed as actor, and he was unmarried. No diplomatic stamps. Maynard, who was unpopular in Hollywood for his ego and temper (the "In Case of Death or Accident Notify" section wasn't filled out), was issued this passport four years after 1944's Harmony Trail. He wouldn't work in movies again until 1970's Bigfoot, where he had ninth billing as "Mr. Bennett". Western film star Ken Maynard (1895-1973), a former trick rider with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and later Ringling Brothers, made his film debut in The Man Who Won (1923), and he would go on to appear in dozens of Westerns, including three "Trail Blazer" films with Hoot Gibson and Bob Steele. Maynard was film's first singing cowboy and showcased his riding skills on his horse, Tarzan, who was sometimes billed as "Tarzan the Wonder Horse". Maynard retired from films in 1944 before returning to the big screen in two films in 1970 and 1972. He was also a popular attraction at autograph shows. Lightly toned, stained and creased.
