Achromatic diopter adapter for lenses with 62mm filter threads.

PRO:
-doesn't introduce chromatic aberration (unlike the "MC" series, or other non-Achromatic products)
-Will get a 1:4 lens to about 1:1, or a 1:1 lens to almost 2:1
-Works best with longer focal-length macro lenses (100mm+)

CON:
-Doesn't work well with wide-angle macro lenses (this is physics, not a product flaw in any way)
-doesn't fit every size of filter thread? (again, not a product flaw)
-is legitimately heavy for a filter, which might change the focus speed of your lens, or cause focus creep when in manual-focus

Great way to improve the size of your subjects. No distortion either.
For the price, you can't beat it. Achromatic performance at 1/3 or less the price of the Marumi close filter.

Center region is laser-sharp. It falls off very slowly until you get some loss of definition and coma-esque (small) effect near the corners. Colors are good, it's fairly light so it works on a compact fixed lens system. Includes Japanese language Kenko box with compact vinyl fold-flap case.

Sadly, I can't compare directly with the much-loved Marumi Achromats, but here's a full crop and detail crop of a shot I took with a Sigma DP3 Merrill.
Extremely sharp, high quality close-up attachment lens. Mine is a No. 5, 49mm Got it on sale & saved enough to buy step-up adapters & 49mm lens caps for a variety of M4/3 lenses. I had been using Nikon single-element close-up attachment lenses but discovered that images taken without the attachment & enlarged to the same magnification were sharper than those using the Nikon add-on. Not the case with this one. I have used it on my primes (17, 25, 45) 14-42 kit and the small 35-100 f4-5.6 Panasonic zoom and found it to be exceedingly sharp on all. There are 2 unavoidable downsides to this lens: 1: It is not light & you will notice the added weight when attached and 2: depth-of-field is severely limited. It is virtually impossible to have the entire frame in focus on any subject (out-of-focus, not distorted). Models with less magnification offer greater DoF so there is a trade-off to be considered when selecting which to buy I have used mine on every lens I could attach it to &... Read more
