Arriving in Fort Keogh, Montana Territory, in 1879, ten years before Montana would become a state, frontier photographer Laton Alton Huffman (1854 1931) would capture the spirit of the American West like no other artist. Equally comfortable photographing Plains Indians and working cowboys, Huffman worked both in the studio and out on the open range, carrying his camera on horseback as he documented untamed Western landscapes and the last of the buffalo herds.
L. A. Huffman: Photographer of the American West contains more than 340 spectacular images of the American West, most of them from the extensive collection of Gene and Beverly Allen, as well as reproductions of many of Huffman s printed and published collectibles and memoribilia. In preparing this revised edition, Gene Allen and Larry Len Peterson selected their favorite images from the previous editions. Plus, this revised edition contains five of Huffman's rare photomurals.
