Probably going to give these to my twin 8 yr old neice and nephew, though I actually bought these for myself. I used to love this show, and there were several I missed. It came up in a conversation lately so I went looking and found these.
I was prepared for a poorer quality video, given the age of this. There's only so much you can do to fix that. What I wasn't prepared for (but should have been) is the really, really bad "special effects". I didn't really notice it as a kid, and didn't think about it till I saw these.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to have them to see in order, especially the ones I missed, but it's not a situation where I'll want to rewatch, so off to the twins. I think it's a great show for their ages anyway. Much better than the slap-together stuff I see sometimes these days.
I'm good about updating if there are any quality issues that pop up. Any questions, feel free to comment or email and I'll try to help.
The show really took a turn in the third season. Not a bad turn, mind you. Just a significant change in characters and story lines. We lose the wonderful Spencer Milligan as Rick Marshall, but gain the amiable Ron Harper as Uncle Jack. The stories veer away from the day to day struggles in a bizarre world full of prehistoric beasts and dangerous lizard men, and incorporated many different science fiction and fantasy elements relating to the Land's peculiar time and reality warping properties. Everybody from scheming 18th century adventurers to mythological Greek demigods show up to make things difficult for the Marshall family. The resilient threesome, along with their loyal Pacuni pal Chaka, always find a way to resolve things by the end of the show though. Season three was different, but every bit as fantastic, as the previous two seasons. Why they didn't continue to a fourth is a mystery to me, as they seemed to have endless storylines at their disposal. Especially since they...
5 stars to counter the inexplicable low scores meted out by other reviewers. The fact is that Season 3 of Land of the Lost is alot of fun and my two young boys (ages 6 and 9) and me, their dad, really enjoyed it. If you ask your kids what they love most about the Land of the Lost they will run down a whole host of things like Sleestacks, Dinosaurs, Chaka, Will & Holly, Pylons, etc. etc. The character Rick Marshall will be very low on the list if he makes the list at all. Given that actor Spencer Milligan chose to leave the show the producers wisely built season 3 around the kids and Chaka who are at the top of the target audience's list. Their adult guardian is now Uncle Jack who was played straight by a great actor. The Star Trek writing staff that knocked so many season 1 and 2 episodes out of the park are MIA but the season 3 writing crew have alot of fun crafting stories that you and your kids will really enjoy as it includes guests like Medusa, the Flying Dutchman, and a...
