A descendant of a boy adopted by the original, criminal robot Brainiac, Querl Dox of Colu inherited his forefather's incredible 12th-level intelligence. Coming to Earth in the 30th Century to study at the Time Institute, Querl was recruited by the Legion of Super-Heroes and took the name Brainiac 5.
