If you like Electro/Future-pop/whatever-you-want-to-call-it-today, then you probably know that VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant and Assemblage 23 are the contenders for the throne in the scene - the big players. However there are many very good bands lurking just below the surface. Neuroticfish is one of them. You may have heard them in the club where the DJ would be spinning one of their sharp EBM hits "Skin", "Velocity" or "Breaking the Cliché". Their singles tend to be linear, punchy and extremely danceable. Well this album is a little more true-industrial than those, but it does feature a club anthem of its own in "Wake Me Up" - if ever a song was similar in style, sound and content to Beborn Beton's smash "Another World" this is it! Filled with fast rhythms, a sing-song chorus that sticks in your head and a theme of accepting the embrace of death, this almost feels like a direct rewrite of the BB song. This is clearly the gem of the disc. "Prostitute" is...
I awoke up alone on my birthday yesterday morning and put "Les Chansons Neurotiques" on. This album manages to go deeper and slice in places few electronic/synth albums are able to. So many bands are a dime a dozen, yet Neuroticfish claims it's own merit. Many electronic sounding bands are made mostly for dancing, yet this band/album seemed to offer something deeper and on a personal level. I sat looking at pictures of people who are not in my life anymore and thinking of decisions I have made in the last years. The cosmic sounding beats over sharp toned lyrics filled me with the intensity of an Ultimate Fighting combatant. Neuroticfish is/will be using my cd player as a pond the next weeks, and maybe months if a female aquaintace of mine casts me into the lost outer limits of Friendville...
This album is great for all the elector-synth dance fans! I really don't get why people are always comparing music from different artist to other different artist, and many has compared neuroticfish to many other artist out there, BUT the thing is that neuroticfish is original and has their own style as well as the artist people tend to compare them to. People are dumb, these days.. anyways Neuroticfish - Les Chansons Neurotiques is a great buy! It has awesome synth work, great beats, and nice lyrics! And Sacsha Mario Klein (lead singer) has an awesome voice! And it sounds even better when he sings in German (like in the song "Need"). This album also contains Neuroticfish's hits like "WakeMeUp!, Prostitute, Need, and It's not me". If you love those songs, there are awesome remixes and extended dance versions on there other singles. Any who, Neuroticfish - Les Chansons Neurotiques... GREAT BUY!
