Okay, so my wife bought this item for me as a birthday present. Firstly, if you are shooting in HD like I do (1920 x 1080), first make sure that you note this screen's resolution... it's 480.
The product description is misleading because it suggests that it supports 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution. When they say support, that does not mean the actual device takes the 1080 image and fits it within the resolution of the 480 resolution squarely. In other words, your 1080 image will be cropped, centered, and barely bigger than the resolution on your 3 inch lcd panel (if you have Canon DSLR). HOWEVER, since 4:3 is a fraction of 16:9, you can still use the 480 display to more or less frame your shots as long as you turn off the "info" display on your Canon camera. I don't understand why they couldn't have downsampled the video image so that the entire monitor screen could be utilized for framing. On the plus side, it really does help frame and focus images better with the...
ok first when I opened it I was like wow this is great, The build quality is cheap but that cheap makes it light. I opted for this over the 7" because i use a Gh2 and well we all know its a small camera plus I did not want to make my rig bulky. My main concern is now matter what settings i use in the settings panel i can NOT get the colors in the LCD to come even close to my GH2's screen. This is more hectic than I anticipated because I now have to keep my GH2 lcd flipped out for checking color and what not. (the GH2 allows both screens to be used at once). The resolution on the GH2 is good I know its not really 1080 but its more then enough to pull focus and framing. I don't think i have many more complaints other then how completely off the screen color is, its not even vibrant like in the pics listed. But I need to better test it since all my testing was done indoors. There is no proper white balance settings on the Lcd other then a few that will get you close but no...
