Additional Information

Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal showcases the PLIMSOULS at the height of their power, tearing the roof off and on the verge of starting a riot on the old
Sunset Strip. Recorded on a multi-track at the Whisky A Go Go on October 31, 1981, this previously unreleased
18 song live album includes many of the PLIMSOULS classics as well as plenty of surprises. It has been stunningly remastered, features previously unpublished and gorgeous photos by photographer Bob Matheu. Includes 2 songs with guest appearance by the FLESHTONES. This is a must have for fans of the band, and rock n' roll lovers everywhere.

Formed in 1978 by Peter Case (vocals, guitar) following his departure from the NERVES and the BREAKAWAYS, with Louie Ramirez (drums), Dave Pahoa (bass), and Eddie Muñoz (guitar), the PLIMSOULS effectively blended roots, British Invasion and garage rock into one unique soul-punk, garage-pop combo. ''They boasted a soulful front man and gifted songwriter in Peter Case; a brittle, unconventional lead guitarist in Eddie Muñoz; and a gutsy, power-packed rhythm section in bassist
Dave Pahoa and drummer Lou Ramirez. The 'Souls didn't just replicate the cliches of power pop, as so many
others did - they, and especially Case, were intent on putting their own imprint on the rock and R&B styles
they derived their sound from. Their keen originality and their 'let's-rock' attitude removed them from the run of
the mill. Despite the misguided notions of observers intent upon categorization, the PLIMSOULS were
always their own men.'' - Chris Morris

I was very fortunate in my youth to have seen The Plimsouls playing live, lucky because i am in Australia. I was a huge fan of the band back in the early 80's and to see them live was a dream come true. I remember it as if it were only last week, the band was on fire and delivered a killer live set. They were the most energetic band i had ever seen live, still are by any measure.

I have bought every CD ever released by the band including a previously released live performance that is badly distorted, and even the re-release of it which is not much better. So I had high hopes for this release. The fact it includes tunes not on the earlier live CD release was an added attraction too. Two of the songs pay homage to their influences, 'Sorry' and 'Women' are songs penned by Australia's most famous song writing team of Vanda and Young. The songs were originally performed by their band The Easybeats in the sixties. I recall them doing Women in the live set i saw in... Read more
I ran across this one when fellow reviewer friend and also a Plimsoul fan (Philip) told me some "Live" albums by The Plimsouls were available. I looked and behold, I was at this show, in the flesh, in the day! This is the first time I have recalled it since I was there in person (except mentioning to Philip I had saw them "Live"). I went to Oingo Boingo shows on Holloween most of the time but was in Hollywood at the time and a buddy & me thought it would be a blast to see these guys. I had the vinyl, in 33 1/3, 7" and 12" so I was very familiar with the band. They do not disappoint, excellent in the day and this is excellent as well. The band was a power pop band that never got their chops. I highly recommend this one even if you have not heard of them like many people reading this now, check out the studio albums & come back to this one, I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy this one. All the main tracks from the first albums / singles / EP's are here. So, by all means, check it out,... Read more
Love The Plimsouls forever! I was in college during the early 1980's and The Plimsouls were the best Los Angeles band at that time. Their music is still as fresh now as it was then. Highly recommend!
