The Marlin Spike is a tool used in marine ropework, sometimes called a fid. Shaped in the form of a polished metal cone tapered to a rounded or flattened point, they aid in such tasks as unlaying rope for splicing, untying knots, drawing marline tight using a marlinspike hitch, and as a toggle joining ropes under tension in a belaying pin splice. Hand machined from 1/2" diameter brass, this feels great in the hand, and would make a great addition to your camping gear, go-bag, etc. Dimensions: .500" diameter X 6" long. Weight (with lanyard and lanyard bead): ~3.8oz/108g Comes with the lanyard and copper lanyard bead.
