The MRP AMG Retention System is built to keep your aggressive trail bike's chain online when you're getting wild. With the widespread acceptance of one-by drivetrains, and clutch-equipped rear derailleurs, many riders have simply chosen to forgo chain retention altogether, but if you check out the bikes that are being raced on the Enduro World Series, you'll find them universally running a top guide like the AMG. After all, it protects your drivetrain from rock debris, and adds the security necessary when you're pushing your trail bike so hard that you're wondering why you left your full face helmet at home. The MRP AMG Retention System is available in three mount styles--bottom bracket mount, ISCG, and ISCG05, in two sizes for either a 28-32t, or 32-38t chainring, and in the colors Black, and White.

I run a 1x10 setup on my mountain bike, and I used to use a chain guide with a lower roller pulley to keep from dropping chains due to the absence of a front derailleur. After upgrading to a clutch-type rear derailleur, I no longer needed the noisy roller but I still wanted an upper chain guide and some sort of bash protection. The AMG fit my needs; I've had other MRP chain devices in the past and the quality of the AMG is no different. The anodized backplate has markings for chainring size, the upper chain guide is as simple as it needs to be (for a full guide, not a half-type side skid) and the lower bash guard is beefy and ready to take a beating. I ended up purchasing the AMG here on Amazon because at the time it was the lowest price I could find online. I would have given it 5 stars if the price was around $70 considering there isn't much to the AMG compared to other, more feature-filled chain guides out there.
Although the chain guide does not work with the Specialized Enduro I was able to utilize the factory chain guide. The MRP guide doesn't fit because of swing arm interference during suspension travel, as the arm as VERY close to the chain ring. The whole reason I bought this product was to have a bash guard with a chain guide, which I still achieved with the original guide screwed onto the MRP plate. Very happy with the added protection!
This works great. The main reason I bought this is to protect my chainring and the lower section of downtube on my carbon frame. The type of riding I do includes getting up and over rocks, logs and urban features. Its taken a few good hits and has held up great. Plus no chance of loosing my chain on the narly sections of trail.
