Additional Information

The book is a compilation of five true stories of adults (4 woman & 1 man) trafficked as children. Each story is preceded by an overview of the type of trafficking the story addresses and followed up by a statement from the survivors themselves.  The purpose of the book is to provide insights on how American children are taken captive and often coerced to remain in a lifestyle of commercial sexual exploitation.  All profits from the book will be distributed to nationally recognized agencies providing either preventive or restorative service for child survivors of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking.

I didn't " like" the book, but it is certainly poignant and powerful. Sex trafficking is too destructive and horrid to turn away and thereby deny victims a chance to be noticed.
Education leaders, community groups, playground monitors, park police, nurses, doctors....please read the stories to absorb the reality and then study the red flags and finally keep your eyes open. Learn the body language and habits of both traffickers and victims. Trust your gut and call a hotline or local police and for her safety, don't approach victim directly. So hard to read these true life souls crying out their stories and then listen to what they needed that could have maybe stopped the Slavery
Things each of us can do. Must do. Risk breaking the awkward silence. Be brave.
Heartbreaking truth that is hard to swallow, and I cried through many parts. Alisa Jordheim did an amazing job of making me feel like I was there with the survivors as they endured their horrific ordeals. I haven't been the same since reading "Made In the USA", and I want more than ever to "Act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with my God". Thank you for having the guts to share their stories, Alisa!
Although this is a heart-wrenching book depicting the horrors of human trafficking, it's a story that needs to be told. Well-written.
