The floor plate(round base) is designed to be mounted on the floor, it can't be wall mounted.
There is a noticeable noise when the magnet catch the flap, but it's not terribly loud.

Tips
If you have a door with large clearance, you could add a small block of wood/round discs or other spacer under the floor plate so that the magnet is able to catch.
