I have often been refereed to as a nervous chihuahua when it comes to getting up in front of people and speaking. I was awarded employee of the year a few weeks ago for 2015 and there is a party and I have to give a speech which terrifies me. This book has been very uplifting and positive for me discovering my source of stress and making a plan to relieve my stress. I feel like a different person and am ready for my award on 1/28/16. I chose this book because the description and the preview looked very well put together and intelligently thought out. I also like that this book isn't terribly long. I love how the author had personal stories that related to their stress and what they did to over come their stress. There is a list of types of stress and another list of ways to over come the stress. Finding what works for you is the key to reducing your stress. Highly recommended and really well written.
With the cost of hiring a professional psychologist being what it is, I am self-admittedly a big fan of an invaluable self help book. I am also guilty of piling on way too many responsibilities, knowing that my plate is already full. Somehow, I always power through, convincing myself that I am just one of those people who work best under stress. This mode of thought is what made me purchase Manage Today, A Guide to Reducing Stress And Overcoming Challenges. Author Janet Zamora has since persuaded me of otherwise. No spoiler, but I will reveal one of the takeaways that hadn't even occurred to me; the notion of de-stressing before over burdening oneself. Zamora also expands on other powerful techniques to make life less overwhelming, such as identifying stressors, forging a doable plan, and creating a lifestyle that is tailored especially for your healthiest mental well being. As a performer, stress is often a huge problem for me. Stage fright is awful! I'm always trying to find ways to calm myself down and control my stress levels. That's why I purchased this book and it has some really helpful tips in here! Leading up to opening night of any performance, I use many of these methods to help control my stress levels which allows me to be completely level-headed going onto the stage. It also helped me to review and pinpoint other aspects of my life that were causing me stress - such as financial responsibilities and family life.

Another thing I love about this book is the personal experiences that the author shares throughout. I used to be really embarrassed about my stress levels, but reading that other people get stressed about such things as well really helps me to feel less silly about it.

This is a great book that I recommend to anyone that's trying to control their stress levels.
