Additional Information

A laugh-out-loud funny, sassy, helpful, and profoundly honest memoir, Mani-Pedi STAT chronicles Deb Ebenstein’s two bouts with cancer, and a rare blood disorder, between the ages of sixteen and thirty-three. Navigating cancer treatments while continuing to balance real life and then returning to a world she doesn’t quite recognize anymore, her story is told through the eyes of a bright-eyed Jersey girl who loves boys, sports, fashion, and ultimately a family of her own.

Deb discovers that at the very worst of times—when her body is bloated and her future is uncertain and bleak—that the generosity of girlfriends, family, and a good mani-pedi can lift the spirits and help her thrive and survive. Mani-Pedi STAT is for survivors, friends of survivors, and memoir lovers alike. It will bring patienthood to life in ways that make you laugh and cry at the same time, and along the way you might learn a thing or two for your next trip to the doctor’s office.

Finished the book in one sitting, literally could not put it down. I was blown away by the simply stated but powerful way in which Deb describes her life during and between life altering bouts with cancer. This should be required reading for all who are going through cancer, and especially for young teens fighting cancer. Her experiences are enlightening and insightful, but written with humor.
She writes so that you can feel the 16 year old girl and her concerns, and also the concerns of a young wife and mother facing a battle with the big C.
Wonderful memoir well worth the read!
To know Deb is to love her! To read her memoir is to get to know her. With each chapter you abandon yourself and take a roller coaster ride with Deb. Her writing beautifully crafts a story of the medical ups and downs of her life from teenager to Mom. Poignant moments interface with comical. Sure you'll shed a tear but you'll giggle too! Deb is not maudlin or self-piting! To the contrary, she is upbeat, determined, indomitable, smart and driven by love. But this is not a Pollyanna story; it is real. Deb invites you to share her fears, anger, disappointment along with her humor, joy and hope. She fills the reader with her courage; courage to dream the possible. Her voice is strong and refreshingly present on every page. This is a page turner, a must read, and once started, you can't put it down. Regardless of who you are, you will not be disappointed. I defy you not to experience heart felt empathy and inspiration!
I could not put this book down. It made me laugh and cry but most importantly is that I felt connected to Deb. I felt like I was riding this rollercoaster with her from her first cancer diagnosis as an outgoing teenager to a second Cancer diagnosis as a woman, wife and mother. She is beyond inspiring and makes you appreciate all the little things in life, including, a really good mani-pedi!

This book reads like a novel all women would love yet is a memoir which makes it even more incredible!
