This amp is AMAZING. Hands down the best combo I've played in terms of features, tone, and looks. It certainly retains the wonderful reputation that Marshall has kept over the past 50 years. I call absolute BS on anyone who claims this amp does not have enough distortion, which is why attached a video for proof. I have EMG 81/85's in the video, but I have played DiMarzio's and stock pups which sound perfectly fine and distorted through this badass amp. I play a DSL2000 100w on stage and this is the perfect counterpart for the hi-gain tube sound you're looking for! Highly recommended for the price.
I got this for my husband for his birthday. He loves Marshalls and wanted a practice amp or one he could take along somewhere to play for a small group or family.

It really rocks for a small amp and he was impressed (not always easy to do). Recently he got to show off for his talents for visiting niece and nephew. He loves to have this little portable amp for when his big stuff is all packed up for a gig.

It is a great buy and he could not be happier.
I have an Epiphone 335 Pro. A MUCH better, updated version of the Dot, complete with '57 Humbuckers in both the neck and bridge pups. I had a Peavy 30 before I bought this amp. While I admit I bought the Peavy second hand from a music store, one thing was apparent whether it was new or used-- the sound was not quite right. What I mean is it had a bevy of adjustable settings from crunch to phaser to overdrive but it all sounded "electronic"? If that makes sense. So after tireless adjusting with never being happy with the sounds I came up with, I finally decided to make the switch to a Marshall.

I knew that I was giving up all my virtual stomp boxes, but I realized I only play clean or with moderate to heavy crunch as I play mainly jazz or 60's/70'sMotown type music. And this Marshall is built to do both comfortably. I wasn't a fan of it's presets as it was a phaser/reverbish sound but after skimming thru the manual I quickly found how to adjust to my desired...
