Although the business end of these strippers look completely different than the Furminator, they work just like the Furminator to remove loose undercoat hair. First the good news. It seems to work really well and the dogs tolerate it better than the Furminator. It is heavy duty. I have three dogs...two Malamutes and a Golden Retriever. For me it seems that it works better on the short haired dogs and my two Malamutes don't relish being brushed but they don't seem to mind this. My Golden Retriever(my third) has hair that flows in all directions and this has some difficulty going with the flow...so to speak. It works on him but not as well as the Malamutes.
The bad news is that this one isn't very wide. they do make a wider one. With large dogs it will take a long time to get each one done and you have to take the hair off the brush with each sweep. I imagine as you use it more often there will be less brushing necessary.
Bottom line....this works better than other brands but if you have large dogs get the bigger size. Some other reviews think this doesn't get as much hair out. In my opinion, if this is less irritating I...
After spending a ridiculous amount of time researching something called stripping for this dog's wiry rough thick undercoat which apparently is not supposed to be shaved I saw a lot of positive feedback on this tool. There were ones that were far more expensive, some made in Europe, some made for left-handed people, and so on. Finally I hit click and this arrived at the front door this morning. The terrier can be... well, she's a terrier, so, you know (!). So I let her sniff around it, then I used it to "comb" the other two little dogs who have very short coats (one a dachsund). To them it was just a massage and they loved it, so the terrier became interested and let me use the tool on her the way (I think) it's meant to be used. I had no problem getting it through her coat, and a ton of hair came off. The tool is very easy to use. The blade is curved and not at all sharp enough to have to worry about hurting the dog by accident, which is nice. The handle is comfortable and...
