This 4 x 10 x ½ thick piece of cast aluminum tooling plate serves several functions on your mill. It both stiffens your table and protects it from accidental damage from a cutter going through a part. It also is pre-drilled with a pattern of multiple 10-32 hole to make it easy to clamp a vise, tilting table or rotary table or any part to the plate for milling. Cast plate was chosen because it has no internal stresses. Drilling additional holes for clamping special parts will not cause it to warp. When the plate has been used extensively and is drilled full on holes or the surface seriously damaged, it is simply replaced. Like a faceplate, it is consider disposable and is meant to be modified as need to suit any particular workholding need. Hold-down hole pattern and t-nuts designed for use on Sherline mill tables.
