Cypress Essential Oil is extracted from the Cupressus Sempervirens tree, also known as Mediterranean Cypress. In ancient times, it was referred to as the ÒTree which lives forever,Ó due to its long life and ability to resist forest fires.
Cypress Essential Oil contains mostly the component alpha pinene, an organic compound of the terpene class. Alpha pinene contributes to cypressÕ anti-inflammatory action. A-pinene is known as a bronchodilator, which increases airflow to the lungs, helping with obstructive lung diseases.
Cypress essential oil also contains Cedrol, a constituent of Cedarwood essential oil. Cedrol is a sedative and improves sleep, giving Cypress its grounding and relaxing properties.
