Modern Tahtib: Egyptian Baton Martial and Festive Art

Modern Tahtib (MT) is the update version of the Egyptian Battle staff. 5000 years after its first engravings on SahourÃª Pyramid, it is now a sport, a peaceful and structured martial art, with instructors and tournaments. It is played with a 1.30m long rattan stick. Jousting, combat and forms take place in a circle. The audience and the drummers develop a festive and respectful atmosphere.
In 2016, the traditional version of MT has been inscribed at Unesco Heritage, â€œTahteeb- Stick gameâ€.
