My Piece of the Sky

MY PIECE OF THE SKY features rhyming prose with an easy-to-read anapestic tetrameter (like "The Cat in the Hat"), large print in the Century Schoolbook typeface, and full-color dreamlike illustrations. The author recounts his childhood desire to fly an airplane, tells of the learning process he followed to achieve that goal, and describes the dozens of fascinating things he has seen from the air. MY PIECE OF THE SKY shares mountains, rainbows, clouds, UFOs, airports, dogs, cats, birds, bugs, and more - all from the pilot's point of view. The vocabulary and reading level are suitable for most elementary students. In addition, many stanzas include questions designed to stimulate verbal responses when the book is read aloud.
