Tally looked around the dressing room, filled with trepidation. Yes, she had signed on for this. No, she didn't have a lot of options.
The other ladies were each sitting in front of vanity mirrors in various stages of undress. Most were topless, nipples permanently perched out on the many fake breasts.
The image reminded Tally of movies that showed the backstage of a Broadway play. That would have been a comforting thought if not for the fear of all of the hairy, sweaty men who would be penetrating her as a result of her embellished allure.
Being a ship escort would make her filmography sparkle. Thankfully, casting directors were aware of the talent that accompanied such a position. There were only weekly contracts on the ship, after all. One bad night and you might be finding a flight home at the next dock. Acting, becoming what the guest wanted or needed, was paramount.
Luckily for Tally, the previous, quiet transition of a few talented ladies into films and webisodes--all of whom managed to immediately attract various acting awards--paved the way for this specific slice of the oldest profession to become an accepted stepping stone in any serious actress' career path. Casting directors banked on this new direction and could be found listed on many ship manifests, turning their vacations into scouting trips.
Tally found her mirror and began unloading her beauty box. Halfway through her routine, Gemma, the Head Hooker for all intents and purposes, came to the middle of the noisy room to announce the assignments.
There were a mixture of relieved sighs and soft groans as the she ticked off the names. Nightly entertainment, often with the same girl if the guest preferred, was the very reason many men, and a few excitement-seeking couples, chose Pleasure Cruise Lines for their vacation.
