Usage and Facts. Sea sponges need fresh water before you used them in order to soften their texture and clear water after their use and let them dry. With the proper use, a Natural Sea Sponge can last a long time. For extra cleaning, sink them in a bowl with a small spoon of baking soda with warm water. Do not put hot water as it might affect its texture. Note that because of its nature real sponges can differ in shape and size.
